Success Mindset in a Fast Paced World
Success doesn’t come easy and neither does success mindset. It can be hard and slow and takes years of dedication. Today, we’re looking at what success mindset looks like in our fast paced world and how you can develop a stronger framework for reaching your goals.
I think we can all agree that the world moves at a much faster pace than it used to. Travelling around the world used to take months, then weeks, then days. If you remember travelling in the pre-covid era, you could fly in a matter of hours!
Instant messaging and online chats have made it quicker and easier to get your issues resolved. Thanks to Amazon, we expect anything we order to arrive in two days, or one day, or even on the same day.
We want things fast and we want things easy. It’s the mindset of instant gratification. We don’t like waiting for things to arrive in the mail, or for long travel times, and we definitely don’t like waiting for success to arrive at our doorstep.
Healthy Success Mindset Requires Patience
We have this expectation that success should be instant and unfortunately, that just isn’t always the case.
If you haven’t heard my story before, you might even be sitting here reading this post now, thinking, “But you own a company called Million Dollar Bathrobe. You’re successful!”
You’re right, and I’m grateful.
My success did not happen instantly and I waited and worked a long time before I achieved anything! But I also learned a lot from those 17 years and that’s what I want to share with you.
I can’t guarantee that you are going to be the next billionaire, I don’t know that. But what I can tell you is that having a healthy success mindset will keep you going, even if others fall off and give up. And in a day and age where people are trying something new and quitting faster than you can say “Feel Like a Million,” I think you’ll find these ideas useful.
#1 Success is a Pearl.
A pearl forms over many years and it turns out, isn’t made from a grain of sand (that’s a myth)! An oyster forms a pearl when a parasite comes into contact with the inside of the oyster. As a defence, the oyster secretes a coating which becomes the very first layer of the pearl. These layers slowly add up and the pearl was eventually turned into your grandma’s earrings!
Just like that pearl, your success may take time and it might be a lot of work. You’ll add to your dreams layer by layer until they are spectacular.
Be persistent with your goal and keep your vision firmly planted in your mind. This is your pearl after all! Nobody else can make it for you.
Stick with it, even when it feels tough and don’t let the gratification to have something now stop you from working for what you want most.
Find the pearl you want to create and as you’re building it, remember that there is something beautiful waiting for you on the other side as long as you don’t give up. That’s a healthy success mindset.
#2: Success Looks Like an Iceberg
Yes, an iceberg.
Like this bad boy here.
From the top, it just looks like a large piece of ice floating in the water. But do you see how much of the iceberg is hiding beneath the surface? This is what you need to know about success.
There is so much going on underneath the surface that nobody on the outside can see. There’s hard work, there’s grit, there’s passion and determination and sometimes, it all just takes time for these to come together.
It took me 17 years!
Whenever you feel like giving up, or you start comparing where you’re at with someone else’s success, think of the iceberg. Think of what sort of time and hard work went into building that success and what you can do to keep building yours. Remember the iceberg and don’t let your success mindset crumble because of comparison.
#3 Success Needs a Blueprint.
When you build a house, you start with blueprints. You have a plan for where you want to go and you have the knowledge of how to get there. If you don’t know how to get where you’re going, your goal will be a lot harder to obtain.
A Healthy Success Mindset
Use your plan to make sure that you stay on track and get the end result you want. You may need to study and learn before creating your plan. Or you may ask for external advice. The two keys to success mindset: have a plan and never stop learning.
Let your blueprints guide you, but don’t be afraid to make alterations if you need to in the future. Being flexible and know when to pivot. Let your blueprint be your guide. Be open to changing your plans if you find that a better option comes up down the road.
One of the main reasons why people give up is because they don’t realize how much work and dedication and commitment is involved in making a dream become reality.
Success is possible, are you going to cultivate the right mindset to get there?
